Why staying near Ramkund matters
Most trips, the hotel is just where you sleep. The Kumbh is different. On each Amrit Snan morning the area around Ramkund closes to traffic — the inner Panchavati lanes go pedestrian-only, often for more than a kilometre around the ghats. Whatever you've booked, the last stretch to the water is on foot, in a pre-dawn crowd of lakhs.
So the single most useful thing a hotel can do for you is shorten that walk. A room ten minutes from the ghats means you roll out of bed at 3 AM, walk in, take your dip, and are back resting by mid-morning. A room across the city means a long approach, road closures, and a tired start to the day that matters most.
The three areas to know
Nashik's accommodation falls into three broad zones for a pilgrim. Each trades off differently between closeness, comfort, and price.
| Area | Walk to Ramkund | Character | Price band* | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panchavati / near the ghats | 5–20 min on foot | Dense, devotional, basic-to-mid hotels & dharamshalas | ₹–₹₹ | Snan-first pilgrims who want the shortest walk |
| Gangapur Road | 10–20 min by cab | The city's nicer, quieter hotels and serviced stays | ₹₹–₹₹₹ | Comfort-first travellers, families, NRIs |
| CBD / Nashik Road | 25–40 min by cab | Business hotels, near the railway station | ₹–₹₹ | Late arrivals by train, one-night stops |
*Bands are relative and rise sharply during the Mela — see the surge section below.
What your budget gets you
Rather than name specific hotels — availability and prices shift constantly, and we won't list places we haven't vetted — here's an honest picture of what each budget realistically secures near the ghats during the Kumbh.
Pilgrim & budget
Dharamshalas, trust-run lodges, and simple guesthouses in Panchavati. Shared or basic private facilities, plain rooms, unbeatable for the walk. Book direct or through trust offices; these go first and rarely appear on big platforms.
Mid-range
Clean two- and three-star hotels with private bathrooms, AC, and breakfast, mostly a short cab from the ghats or on the Panchavati fringe. This is where most families land, and where the booking platforms are most useful.

Check availability →Premium & comfort
The better hotels on Gangapur Road — proper service, restaurants, and the option of a private cab and organised snan-day transport. Further from the ghats, but the comfort suits longer stays and multi-generation groups.
Premium stays on Gangapur Road
Often strong rates on the comfort-tier hotels, with member discounts worth checking.

Be ready for prices to climb steeply around the three Amrit Snans — 2 August, 31 August, and 11–12 September 2027 — with the sharpest rates on the 31 August peak. Rooms within walking distance of Ramkund are the first to sell and the last to discount.
Our guidance: lock in accommodation three to four months ahead of your chosen date, and prioritise free-cancellation rates so you can adjust as your plans firm up.
Booking smart
Whichever tier you choose, three habits save money and stress: book early on a free-cancellation rate, carry your confirmation offline, and cost the whole trip before you commit so the room fits the budget rather than blowing it.
Book stay + travel together
Match a hotel to your trains, buses, or flights in one session — useful if you're still finalising how you'll arrive.
Plan it on MakeMyTrip →Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book?+
For the Amrit Snan dates, three to four months ahead. Rooms within walking distance of the ghats are the first to sell out, and prices only rise as the dates approach.
Can I really walk to the ghats from these hotels?+
From Panchavati and the area immediately around the ghats, yes — and on snan mornings that's a real advantage, because vehicles can't reach Ramkund anyway. From Gangapur Road or Nashik Road you'll need a cab to the closest permitted point, then walk.
Are dharamshalas a good option?+
For pilgrims watching costs and wanting the shortest walk, yes. Facilities are basic and often shared, and the best ones are trust-run and book direct rather than on platforms. See our dedicated dharamshalas guide.
Is it safe to book on arrival?+
During the peak Mela, no — rooms sell out and on-arrival quotes are unreliable. Book a confirmable rate in advance and keep the confirmation both on your phone and printed.
