136 Temporary Medical Facilities Planned
The temporary healthcare network will be established closer to areas expected to see large gatherings during the Kumbh.
Facilities are planned at Sadhugram, parking areas, ghats, holding and staging areas and major routes. The network will include temporary hospitals, ICUs and clinics, with facilities largely planned through portable cabin units.
A 10-bed temporary hospital at Nandur Sadhugram is also part of the plan. The arrangement is intended to provide medical care closer to devotees and reduce the need to travel through congested routes to reach larger hospitals.
190 Ambulances for Parvani Period
A total of 190 ambulances will be deployed during the Parvani period.
The fleet will include Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances. These vehicles are planned to be positioned at hospitals, temporary medical facilities, ghats, Sadhugram, parking areas, holding zones and other important locations.
The fleet will include ambulances procured by health agencies as well as vehicles hired specifically for the Kumbh period.
3,600 Additional Medical Personnel
Around 3,600 additional medical and paramedical personnel are planned to support the expanded healthcare network.
The workforce will include specialist medical officers, MBBS and BAMS doctors, nurses, auxiliary nurse midwives, pharmacists, medical technicians and other support staff. Training is also planned ahead of the Simhastha to prepare personnel for emergency care and large patient loads.
Hospital Capacity to Increase to 1,945 Beds
The healthcare preparedness plan aims to increase Nashik's overall treatment capacity from 1,305 beds to 1,945 beds, adding 640 beds during the Kumbh period.
The expanded capacity will include 185 ICU beds, providing additional treatment capacity during the peak pilgrimage period.
Four major Nashik Municipal Corporation hospitals are also planned to receive 73 additional ICU beds, according to the report. Their combined ICU capacity is proposed to increase from 17 to 90 beds.
Digital Disease Monitoring and Ambulance Tracking
The health preparedness plan also includes a digital disease surveillance system to monitor illnesses reported from different medical facilities.
The system is intended to track disease trends by location and help health authorities identify emerging health concerns. GPS-based ambulance tracking, digital registration at health facilities and emergency communication systems are also part of the planned framework.
Portable Emergency Medical Units
Three portable emergency medical units are also proposed as part of the healthcare arrangements.
These units can be moved to locations where additional medical support is required, allowing emergency care to be provided closer to large crowds during the Kumbh.
The expanded healthcare network is part of the wider preparations for the 2027 Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela, with the focus on providing medical services closer to major pilgrimage and crowd-management zones.
