The Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela is not held at a single location. It unfolds across a sacred landscape spanning twenty-eight kilometres, from the Godavari ghats at Ramkund in Nashik to the source of the river at Kushavarta Kund in Trimbakeshwar. The Vaishnava Akharas perform their Amrit Snan in Nashik. The Shaiva Akharas, including the Naga Sadhus, bathe at Trimbakeshwar. Knowing where each ritual happens and what each place represents is the foundation of a meaningful pilgrimage.

Every Amrit Snan day of the Nashik Kumbh begins here, on the sacred kund where Lord Rama himself is said to have bathed.
Ramkund sits at the heart of Panchavati, on the right bank of the Godavari. The word kund means tank or pool, but Ramkund is more accurately a complex of stone-paved bathing ghats and the central pond around which the Mela's most sacred rituals concentrate. The Vaishnava Akharas perform their procession to this site before dawn on each of the three principal Amrit Snan days in 2027.

Panchavati, Nashik · Right bank of the Godavari
The Ramkund complex includes the Srirama Mandir, the Asthivilaya Tirth and a series of stepped ghats descending to the river. Devotees believe that ashes immersed in the Asthivilaya Tirth dissolve instantly, the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru and Indira Gandhi were all immersed here. During the 2027 Kumbh, the Akhara procession bathes between 3:00 AM and 7:00 AM; public access opens after that, with the recommended bathing window being 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Each plays a distinct role in the Mela calendar and the broader Ramayana-rooted pilgrimage of Nashik.
Beyond Ramkund, the other sites carry significant ritual weight during the 2027 Kumbh. Trimbakeshwar and Kushavarta Kund anchor the Shaiva side of the Mela twenty-eight kilometres west of Nashik. Panchavati, Kalaram Temple and Triveni Sangam form a tight cluster within walking distance of Ramkund itself, together making up what many pilgrims call the Ramayana circuit of Nashik.
SITE 2 · ONE OF 12 JYOTIRLINGAS
Trimbakeshwar · 28 km west of Nashik
One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the sacred abodes of Shiva. The three-faced lingam, the source of the Godavari, the famous Kalsarpa and Narayan Nagbali rituals and the Shaiva Amrit Snan on 12 September 2027 at Kushavarta Kund.

Trimbakeshwar temple complex
The sacred tank where the Godavari rises to the surface. Built by the Holkars in the 18th century, Kushavarta is where the Shaiva Akharas, including the Naga Sadhus, take their Amrit Snan on 12 September 2027.
SITE 4 · THE RAMAYANA HEART
North bank of the Godavari, Nashik
The sacred quarter where Rama, Sita and Lakshmana lived in exile. Ramkund, the Kalaram Temple, Sita Gufa and the Triveni Sangam all cluster here, making it the epicentre of the Kumbh.
SITE 5 · BUILT 1794 · HEMADPANTHI

Built in 1794, named for its black-stone idol of Lord Rama. One of Maharashtra's finest Hemadpanthi structures and the site of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's historic 1930 temple-entry satyagraha.
SITE 6 · CONFLUENCE OF THREE RIVERS
Near Panchavati · where Godavari meets Aruna and Varuna
The sacred confluence where three rivers meet. A powerful spot for ritual bathing and ancestral rites; many pilgrims complete a tri-site bathing circuit, Ramkund, Triveni Sangam and Kushavarta Kund.
Most pilgrims attempt all six sites in two to three days. Here is the realistic walking-and-driving plan.
The Panchavati cluster , Ramkund, Kalaram Temple, Panchavati area, Sita Gufa and Triveni Sangam, sits within a single walkable square kilometre. Plan a half-day on foot, starting at Ramkund at dawn for the cleanest light and lowest crowds, then moving inland to Kalaram Temple and Sita Gufa, ending at Triveni Sangam by mid-morning.
Trimbakeshwar requires a day trip, twenty-eight kilometres west of Nashik, approximately fifty minutes by road outside Mela days. During the Mela window, plan for traffic delays of one to two hours each way. Hire a private cab through a verified operator; auto- rickshaws are not recommended for this distance. The full Trimbakeshwar visit, Jyotirlinga darshan plus Kushavarta Kund, typically takes four to six hours including queue time.
For the 12 September 2027 Shaiva Amrit Snan at Kushavarta Kund , we strongly recommend staying overnight in Trimbakeshwar on 11 September. The Trimbakeshwar-Nashik road experiences severe congestion that morning. Hotels in Trimbakeshwar town are limited and book out months in advance.
