₹1,800 Crore Released for Kumbh Works
The latest allocation comes as preparations for the 2027 Simhastha Kumbh accelerate across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.
The administration had earlier submitted a development plan of around ₹24,000 crore for Simhastha-related works. While the complete plan is yet to receive government approval, several infrastructure projects are already being implemented through the Kumbh Authority, Nashik Municipal Corporation and other government agencies.
The newly approved ₹1,800 crore is intended to provide additional financial support for essential works already covered under the approved Kumbh objectives.
₹3,098 Crore Already Distributed
During the 2025–26 financial year, the government had released funds in several stages, amounting to a combined ₹3,098 crore.
A supplementary provision of ₹3,000 crore was subsequently approved for essential Simhastha works during the 2026–27 monsoon session. Of this provision, ₹1,800 crore remained to be distributed and has now received formal approval from the Urban Development Department.
Spending Subject to Approvals
The government has specified that the new funds must be used only for approved Simhastha Kumbh objectives. The concerned works must receive the required administrative and technical approvals before the funds can be released or spent.
Authorities have also been directed to submit utilisation certificates to the government after the funds are used. Responsibility for monitoring the utilisation of the funds has been assigned to the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority, headed by the Nashik Divisional Commissioner.
The additional funding is expected to support the implementation of essential infrastructure and other Kumbh-related works as preparations continue toward the 2027 Simhastha.
