Ram Kund Entry Plan Announced for Amrit Snan
With a large number of pilgrims expected to arrive in Nashik for the Amrit Snan during Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, the police department is preparing special arrangements to manage crowds and maintain safety around the Godavari riverfront.
Under the proposed plan, only sadhus and Mahants will be allowed to enter the Ram Kund area during the Amrit Snan. Other pilgrims will be directed to Gandhi Talav and other designated ghats for bathing.
The arrangement is being considered to reduce congestion at one of Nashik's busiest bathing locations and allow the traditional processions of sadhus and Akharas to move safely.

Police Planning Focuses on Crowd Safety
According to Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, extensive discussions have been held with government departments, the Akhara Parishad and social organisations as part of the Kumbh security preparations. Around 68 meetings have been conducted to discuss crowd management, traffic movement and safety arrangements.
Authorities estimate that more than 8 crore pilgrims could visit Nashik during the major Amrit Snan occasions. The large-scale movement of pilgrims and the traditional processions from Sadhugram to Ram Kund are therefore a major part of the police planning.
Alternative Procession Routes Being Prepared
The major bathing dates will take place during the monsoon season. Police and other departments are therefore preparing alternative routes for the processions in case heavy rainfall or rising water levels creates unsafe conditions along the planned route.
Officials are coordinating with the Irrigation Department and the Meteorological Department to assess weather and water-related risks before and during the major bathing occasions.
Additional Safety Measures at the Riverfront
Authorities are also assessing water levels and river flow around Ram Kund and other bathing areas. Additional safety barriers and preventive measures are planned to reduce the risk of accidents if the water level or current increases.
CCTV cameras will be used to monitor crowds and identify potential security threats. Police will also check vehicles and monitor areas where theft and other offences could become a concern during peak crowd periods.
More than 30,000 police officers and personnel from Nashik and other districts are expected to remain on duty during the major bathing occasions. Parking arrangements, traffic diversions and crowd-control measures are also being planned at different locations around the city.
